"The Wrong Sister" is a twisty, utterly compelling thriller that completely consumed me. I devoured it over two days while on a chaotic family holiday - and despite the distractions, I simply could not put it down. Writing this review is a challenge, as the less said about the plot, the better for your reading experience.
The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of three women: Tasha, her mother Jeanette, and a mysterious figure named Bonnie. We follow them over six tense months as they grapple with a horrifying event - a violent home invasion that left Tasha's brother-in-law dead and her sister, Alice, seriously injured. The central mystery of the intruder's identity is brilliantly constructed, and I was completely hooked, piecing together clues right alongside the characters.
My connection to Tasha was complex. Initially, I found her frustratingly self-absorbed, often seeming blind to others' suffering when her own life was in turmoil. But as layers of her past were revealed, my understanding deepened, and she truly grew on me. In contrast, her sister Alice's seemingly flawless, "too-good-to-be-true" persona immediately raised my suspicions. Unraveling the truth behind her perfect facade was one of the narrative's great pleasures.
The pacing is masterful, pulling you into its grip from the first page and never letting go. A barrage of clever twists kept me constantly second-guessing my theories. Watching the disparate story threads gradually converge was immensely satisfying, culminating in an ending that left me genuinely stunned. I was so sure I had it all figured out early on, only to be proven spectacularly - and delightfully - wrong.
This is a must-read for fans of domestic suspense. My sincere thanks to Michael Joseph for the gifted copy.

The story basis was a very good idea. However, I felt that it kept going on too many tangents. Also, the storytelling became predictable (end of the chapter ”however, before we do (activity), I need to tell you something “.

The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas had me hooked from the very first page and didn’t let go until the final twist. The story is brilliantly paced, with each chapter ending in a way that made it impossible to put the book down. I found myself saying “just one more chapter” until suddenly I’d read half the book in one sitting.
