Narrated by his soon-to-be chronicler, Captain Hastings, the story invites us to view Poirot's eccentricities and deductive genius through a fond, if slightly baffled, lens from the very beginning.
Modern thriller fans, take note: this is a patient, immersive experience. Christie builds her world not with a jarring crime, but through the meticulous routines of an English country house. We follow Hastings as he arranges a recuperative visit to Styles, meeting the intricate Cavendish-Inglethorpe family over tea and strolls. This deliberate pace isn't a flaw-it's the foundation. It establishes a closed circle of suspects and makes the eventual breach of this orderly world all the more shocking.

How did I go for so long without reading an Agatha Christie?! I wish I’d picked one up sooner! I figured my first read should be the first book published (I have an irrational need to read books in order) and I have to say that this is a fantastic debut novel. Most authors’ work gets better with time – if Christie gets better than this then I have some treats in store!

I have read this story many times and yet the dramatization made it seem like the first time. Was even guessing whodunnit. lol
Poor Hastings is really often at least two steps behind. Was a fun listen.

This version of Agatha Christie’s old favorite was excellent. The acting, especially Peter Dinklage, and sound effects worked seamlessly together. I couldn’t walk away… finished it all in one sitting.

Peter Dinklage steals the entire performance as a near perfect Poirot! Truly, I would love to see him in a new Agatha Christie adaptation (so superior, IMHO, to Kenneth Branagh). He is a worthy successor to David Suchet. I also have to give kudos to the rest of the performers – there isn’t a single one that didn’t make The Mysterious Affair at Styles absolutely shine.
Please please please… get Mr. Dinklage to work on another Poirot novel. (My vote is for Murder on the Links.)
