The Last Letter. By Rebecca Yarros. Audiobook – My Review:
The first half of this book completely captivated me. The narrative was layered with so many compelling threads, all feeling like they were weaving toward a profound emotional climax — and they did, though I found the resolution somewhat lacking (I'll delve into why in the spoiler section below). Rebecca Yarros's prose remains as gorgeous and immersive as ever, and her character craftsmanship makes them breathe with authenticity. This was, without a doubt, an intense emotional journey, and I'll unpack my thoughts in detail.
Focusing on the characters, I absolutely connected with Ella as a protagonist. Beckett, however, was the standout for me - a male lead with remarkable depth and layered vulnerability. I could vividly picture him as a real person. He embodies everything you'd want in a romantic interest, and the secret he carried didn't alienate me from him in the slightest. While Ella could be a touch unreasonable on occasion, it mostly felt within character. The kids, Colt and Maisie, were fine, though at times their actions struck me as slightly off for their age group - but that might just be my perception.
Regarding the plot: Ella is navigating Maisie's illness while mourning her brother's death, all while trying to convince Beckett she isn't a project he needs to fix. Beckett, who openly loves her and the children (established early, so no spoiler), simply wants her to see that. From the opening pages, you sense an impending tragedy. However, the specific source of that tragedy is what ultimately cost this book a full star in my rating.

Read this with my girl Tara ! And i don’t think we could’ve chosen a sadder book. I didn’t realize just how sad this book was going to be until about five chapters in and from there, every couple of chapters it just kept getting heavier and heavier and heavier until I was crying every other chapter. I thought I was prepared, I expected the worst, but nothing could’ve braced me for that ending. It absolutely shattered me. This story is raw, beautifully written, and impossible to shake off. One of those books that lingers in the best and worst ways. Hands down one of the saddest books i’ve ever read and me and Tara are still trying to figure out how to recover from this

This book broke me, I couldn’t put it down until it was finished and it had me up at 1 am sobbing like a baby 😭 Going to be thinking about this one for awhile.
The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros is as much a heartbreaking as it is heartwarming contemporary romance. For anyone not familiar what the title, The Last Letter, is referring to the book is about a soldier who was killed in duty leaving a letter to be read after his death.

This book is indescribably beautiful. The sheer genius of how Rebecca weaves the letters into the story to match up w/the poignancy of the corresponding chapters… I have no words. None that would do it justice, anyway. This book will most definitely rip your heart out. But then it puts it back in & sweetly sews you back together. It will leave its mark on your soul, as Rebecca intended, & hopefully you’ll be all the better for it. I know I am. 💕

It is rare that I write a review for any book even when I like it. This book sucked me in from the very first page, and I just could not stop listening. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me introspective, it made me appreciate life, it made me question life, it made me long for more.
I think it depends on what you’re looking for in a book. I am always looking for something different. Just a good story that makes me feel some kind of way. The narration is great. The performance was great. The story was great. I will definitely seek out more from this author and these narrators.
