The nature of man in animal form. Ideology, loyalty, and devotion become strings for a corrupt puppet master. What I love is how this story continues to be relevant regardless of how much time passes. Network News, Politicians, Social organizations can all be seen on the farm. Highly recommended!
Should be required reading in schools –
Absolutely chilling the way this story ends, and the progression with which we the reader see the increasingly horrifying and tyrannical changes to the farm. But the animals are kept docile and stupid through the combined efforts of limited education and constant lying and falsified propaganda to lull them into compliance but with an ever present threat of horrible violence if the soft words fail to squash any thought of disobedience or questioning. The parallels this story holds to the nuances of reality in our society all around us can be seen easily and in so many forms. This should be required reading in schools.
Classic well-read –
For some reason I was never required to read this is school, so when I saw it on list of classics, I bought it on Audible. It was a wonderful story of political corruption and societal norms. The narrator was great and his varying voices for the characters kept my interest.
