Anatomy of an Alibi

At Chantilly’s Bar, everyone immediately noticed the outsider, Camille Bayliss. Her bold red lips, designer heels, and the way she savored a Negroni made her stand out. Yet, that woman wasn’t truly Camille Bayliss—it was Aubrey Price in disguise.
Camille seems to live a flawless life—married to the charismatic lawyer Ben and heiress to a wealthy Louisiana family. But beneath the surface, nothing is as perfect as it appears: Camille suspects Ben has been concealing dark secrets for years, yet she struggles to find concrete proof because he meticulously monitors her every move.
Aubrey Price is haunted by a horrific night from ten years ago, a night that forever altered her life. She’s convinced that Benjamin Bayliss holds the key to what really happened. Living among criminals has taught her that there’s more than one way to uncover the truth—and she’s just discovered her best option.
With a risky plan in mind, Aubrey and Camille devise a scheme. It seems straightforward: for twelve hours, Aubrey will impersonate Camille. Camille will secretly observe Ben, and together, they hope to uncover the answers they desperately need.
But everything goes awry when, the next morning, Ben is found murdered. Both women scramble for a solid alibi, yet only one can truly claim innocence. One wrong move could unravel everything, plunging their lives into chaos.

Plowed through this book.
The story centers around a family that runs a small Louisiana town. Namely the daughter Camille and a victim of Camilles families lies.
Aubreys parents were killed in an accident ten years previous and the man who fled the scene has been in jail since.
After Camille and Aubrey have an interaction the whole story shifts.
Seems like alot of lies have been told when Camille arrives home to find her husband Ben is dead.
Lots of intrigue and suspense in this story. The ending was not what I was expecting but was still good.
Definitely a must-read

From the very first chapter, I was immediately pulled into this one! There’s something deliciously unsettling about not knowing who to trust, and Ashley Elston absolutely nails that psychological thriller tug-of-war where you’re never quite sure who’s good, who’s bad, or what everyone’s endgame really is.
The story is wonderfully complex—while still maintaining plausibility—full of intertwining plotlines that somehow all click together in the most satisfying way. Even though I managed to guess one twist correctly (small pat on the back), there were plenty of surprises left to keep me on my toes—and that ending? Perfection!

5 Fabulous ⭐!! First five star read of 2026 for me and absolutely loved it so much. I was engaged from start to finish and finished the book in 2 days. Plenty of twists and turns with good pacing without any dull moments. There were several POVs and each one kept me invested in their stories. it was so fun to see where their stories intersected and put together the storyline on my own. It was interesting to wonder who the killers were for the crime committed 10 years ago and the current crime. Liked it even better than her last book! Ashley Elston will be an auto buy author for me.

I loved it from the beginning to the end. Just like Ashley’s previous book, I was not able to stop listening until the end. I’m ready for the next book. I did not see it coming who the killer was and who the killer was years ago. All I can say it’s a must read/listen.
