This dramatization of Orwell’s 1984 is gripping and beautifully produced, with standout performances by Andrew Garfield and Andrew Scott. The sound design and original score add a chilling atmosphere that pulls you right into Winston’s world. However, at times the production feels almost too busy, with effects and voices overlapping in a way that can distract from the clarity of the story. It’s still an excellent adaptation that captures the relevance and darkness of the novel, but the intensity can feel overwhelming. A strong and memorable listen, just shy of perfect.

as a reader of this original title, i went into this reimagining of the story skeptical and came out dumbfoundedly enamored with the production. i don’t think this storytelling style of the classics could be done much better than this execution. standing ovation.
